“Shenanigans is Indeed’s tribute to summer, perfect for days spent sipping pints on the patio,” co-founder Nathan Berndt said. “We really wanted a thirst-quenching beer for those long and hot summer days in Minnesota.”

Shenanigans will be available from May–September on-draft and in liquor stores throughout the Twin Cities metro. A draft release event is planned for May 11 at Sea Salt Eatery in Minneapolis. In addition, the brewery will roll-out 6-packs and 12-packs of 12 oz. Shenanigans Summer Ale cans beginning May 21 in time for Memorial Day weekend.

“We’re really excited to introduce this beer in 12-packs because it’s such a great beer to grab for outdoor activities and share with friends,” Bernd said. “There aren’t any other local craft breweries that offer 12-packs of 12-oz cans, so we feel like we’re filling a need.”

A warm day, great friends and a good beer–It doesn’t get any better. In that spirit we present Shenanigans Summer Ale, our ode to the season. Brewed with Sorachi Ace hops, regionally produced honey and locally malted red wheat, Shenanigans Summer Ale has a zesty citrus aroma, refreshingly dry body and notes of honey. So on those long hot days, remember that summertime is time for Shenanigans. (5% ABV, 14 IBU)

Indeed Brewing Company is proud to announce that it is supporting three local and regional nonprofits as part of its partnership with 1% For the Planet, and the company’s commitment to the preservation and restoration of the natural envioronment. In addition to the monetary donations that the Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness, Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota, and Great River Greening will receive, we will also create volunteer opportunities and promote advocacy for our common goals throughout the year of 2013.

These organizations work to promote sustainability, a healthy and active lifestyle, and places that Indeed Brewing Company and many Minnesotans hold dear to their hearts like the Minnesota River and Mississippi River, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and bicycling.

Since our inception, Indeed Brewing Company made the decision to preserve, protect, and support a healthy planet. In doing so, we became members of 1% for the Planet. As 1% for the Planet members, we are financially committed to donating 1% of our gross annual sales to nonprofit groups committed to sustainability, as well as building and working toward an eco-friendly business. This means that by supporting us, you are in turn supporting sustainability efforts through our 1% contributions, and we appreciate it!

Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness’ mission are to protect, preserve and restore the wilderness character of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and the Quetico-Superior Ecosystem. The Minneapolis-based organization of 3,000 members is a sentry against further harm in the BWCAW and the Quetico-Superior Ecosystem. By partnering with other conservation groups and activating its membership, the Friends ensure that a “voice of wilderness” is always heard during policy debates.

Their restoration efforts help preserve natural areas, protect clean air and water, and increase urban residents’ access to natural areas and sustainable open space.

About 1% for the Planet

Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, 1% for the Planet is a platform of credibility and engagement for environmentally conscious brands that are truly committed to making a positive impact with their business. This global movement of more than 1,400 member companies in 45 countries donate one percent of annual sales directly to approved environmental organizations worldwide, and new members join on a daily basis. 1%FTP annually reviews financial records to certify that member businesses meet their commitment.
